This Internship positions is available in BRG’s Economics, Disputes & Investigations (EDI) Community, 
 
Economics, Disputes & Investigations (EDI) – Our core strength is the ability to leverage a variety of different backgrounds – including economists, statisticians, accountants, and financial professionals – to analyze complex business, legal, and regulatory issues. We look for our interns to use and further develop their economic research abilities as well as their analytical and statistical skills on cases spanning a wide range of subjects, including antitrust, accounting, competition policy, class actions, intellectual property, labor and employment, among others. 
 
Responsibilities 
 
The work of an Intern can have quantitative and qualitative aspects, depending on the needs of specific projects and the Interns skills and interests. Projects range from subject matter research to data collection to the preparation of economic, statistical, financial, and other forms of analysis. Interns should be able to work as part of a team to assemble compelling evidence from data and research that forms the basis for our expert opinions. 
 
General Responsibilities: 
  • Review data sets and qualitative materials to understand the unique requirements and issues involved in complex projects.  
  • Perform detailed research on topics relevant to a matter. 
  • Participate in a team environment and work to meet deadlines and quality expectations.  
  • Apply critical thinking skills. 
  • Interact with senior staff, experts, and clients to clearly communicate findings and economic concepts.  
  • Demonstrate creativity and efficient analytical skills to develop novel solutions tailored to unique projects.  
  • Audit both own work product and work product of others to assure quality.  
  • Possess strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Provide valuable contributions to client deliverables and expert reports. 
  • Develop and maintain electronic databases, spreadsheets and other files as dictated by project needs.  
Quantitative Aspects: 
  • Identify and collect data from a variety of sources to serve the unique needs of a project.  
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze databases, spreadsheets and other files as dictated by project needs. 
  • Combine programming, model building, and statistical analysis skills using relational database and statistical software with economic intuition to analyze a variety of subjects. Use software such as SQL, R, Stata, SAS, Python, or Snowflake. 
Qualitative Aspects: 
  • Gather and review information from academic literature, legal documents, specialized industry resources, commercial databases, or other sources appropriate for the unique requirements of a project.  
  • Summarize and communicate results of your research. 
  • Produce well-reasoned analysis for a variety of cases and/or projects across industries. 
Qualifications 
  • Progression towards a master’s or bachelor’s degree in economics, mathematics, data science, statistics, accounting, finance, healthcare administration or related fields. 
  • 3.5 GPA or higher.   
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.  
  • 0–2 year of experience, including internships. 
  • This position requires a highly motivated problem solver with strong analytical ability and a desire to advance within an organization.  
  • Capability with MS Excel. 
  • Experience with relational database program(s) (e.g., MS SQL Server, SAS, MS Access, Tableau, Alteryx, MS Access, MySQL, Oracle, Snowflake or Teradata) is desirable but not required. The willingness to expand those capabilities is desirable. 
  • Experience with statistical analysis programs (e.g., R, Stata, SAS, Python, SPSS) is desirable but not required. The willingness to expand exposure to these tools is desirable. 
  • Desire to work within a team environment.
