BRG Energy & Climate is seeking a consulting staff position. This position requires a highly motivated problem solver with solid analytical, writing, presentation, research, and organizational skills, accompanied by a desire to advance within the organization. The work will involve both execution and oversight of engagement work streams that will be qualitative and quantitative in nature. Responsibilities include design of quantitative and economic/financial analysis, modeling of financial data and market data, expert report drafting, quality control, development and presentation of client deliverables, contribution to client interaction, industry research, and business development.
Responsibilities
Plan, manage and execute discrete segments of client projects.
Generate client deliverables and act as a leading contributor to expert reports, including generating written content on technical and quantitative analysis.
Play lead role in preparing and finalizing quality internal and external communication.
Develop complex quantitative analyses using spreadsheets and databases, including building financial and/or economic models.
Perform qualitative energy industry research, synthesize findings, and provide client-ready written summaries, memos, and expert report sections.
Contribute to client interaction via email and conference calls as appropriate.
Prepare client presentations and occasional travel to client locations to conduct onsite meetings.
Demonstrate creativity and efficient use of relevant software tools, analytical methods, and computer models to develop solutions.
Delegate assignments to entry-level staff, instruct and monitor progress, and review work product for completeness and accuracy.
Participate in group practice meetings, contribute to business development initiatives, write business proposals and proposed work scopes, and contribute to other office and team functions.
Prioritize assignments and responsibilities to meet goals and deadlines.
Work on other engagements for the broader BRG Energy & Climate practice as needed.
Participate in a team environment and meet client deadlines and quality expectations.
Possess a high degree of self-confidence and determination, and highly developed organization and time management skills.
Manage multiple time sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness.
Demonstrate proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and slide presentation software.
Demonstrate strong conceptual, quantitative, and qualitative analytical skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Occasional travel is required.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in economics, finance, applied mathematics, accounting, business and data analytics, engineering, and/or related disciplines;
Minimum of three to six (3-6) years of relevant work experience in Energy consulting or advisory work; Some experience with disputes-related work is highly desired;
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of physical and financial energy markets and a solid knowledge base within at least one of the following topic areas: climate change; power and renewables; and/or natural gas and LNG;
Working understanding of energy market dynamics, and a passion for learning;
Superior written capabilities, including experience in writing and presenting on technical topics for non-technical audiences;
Strong verbal communication skills;
Experience with financial modeling and analysis including use of Microsoft Excel;
Experience in statistical analysis programs (e.g., Python and R), Tableau, SQL, with a desire to expand those capabilities; and/or
Fluency in Spanish (Must be able to speak, read, and write in Spanish language without limitations and assistance) highly preferred.
Salary Range: $100,000 to $230,000 per year.
