BRGs labor & employment experts use court-accepted and -tested scientific techniques for modeling and measurement. This includes design of primary research tools such as survey questionnaires, interview protocols, and observational studies. Our experts typically combine primary and secondary research in a wide range of labor and employment disputes using existing data and documentsthe latter subject to systematic content analysis. They use these methods to conduct job analyses and determine time worked in cases involving allegations of employee misclassification and to conduct internal and external benchmarking studies in cases involving allegations of unreasonable executive compensation. They analyze employee-level data in pay, promotions, hiring, and termination using sophisticated statistical techniques.

We are rapidly expanding our labor & employment practice and seeking senior level economists/consultants that want to be their own revenue generating experts of tomorrow. You must have an interest in addressing real-world applied economics questions. Responsibilities include database building and analysis, managing junior staff and client relationships, reviewing legal documentation, and assisting our experts in preparation for depositions and trial testimony. Successful senior staff members in the Labor & Employment Practice are detail-oriented, creative problem solvers, rigorous analysts, and effective communicators to non-technical audiences.

This position requires a highly motivated problem solver with robust analytical ability, strong organizational and communication skills, and a desire to advance within the organization. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in litigation or economic consulting. The work will involve both execution and oversight of engagement work streams that may be either quantitative or qualitative in nature, with responsibilities to include design of economic, statistical, and financial analysis, modeling of financial data and markets, management of existing client relationships, development and presentation of client deliverables, management of junior staff, quality control, industry research, and expansion of business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into defensible positions using software packages such as SAS and Stata.
  • Ability to rapidly absorb the current relevant academic literature and bring to bear on a given project.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while directing and overseeing work streams including data analysis and preparation of reports.
  • Creation of reports, executive summaries, white papers, and PowerPoint Presentations.
  • Process, synthesize, summarize, and analyze large datasets across multiple sources and formats.
  • Communicate the results of analyses for experts and clients via tables, figures, and charts.
  • Perform detailed research and analysis, then put the results into action (e.g., gather, review, and data from the public domain, specialized industry resources, or client, public and commercial databases).
  • Demonstrate creativity and efficient use of relevant software tools, analytical methods, and computer models to develop solutions.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Audit own work product and work product of others to assure quality.
  • Participate in a team environment and work hard to meet client deadlines and quality expectations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A masters degree from a reputable university in the area of economics, statistics, analytics, or a relevant field; relevant experience in lieu of a master degree will be considered;
  • Minimum of eight (8+) years of consulting industry experience; and
  • Minimum of four (4+) years of experience with labor economics issues (e.g., wage & hour, disparate impact, independent contractor status, executive compensation, etc.) a plus.

Salary Range: $150,000 to $250,000 per year.
